Copenhagen COP15 — Paths to Climate Justice and The Copenhagen Connection

Paths to Climate Justice A public meeting has been organised, Paths to Climate Justice, for Monday 25th January 2010 at 6:30pm to be held at The Quaker Meeting House, St James Street, Sheffield S1.

The meeting on 25th January will cover:

  • Our positive stories of non-violent protest and direct action by a coalition of Southern people’s movements, Northern climate activists and non-governmental organisations.
  • How we developed a deeper understanding of climate justice and committed to say ‘yes’ to Earth Rights and Human Rights and ‘no’ to fossil fuels and carbon trading.
  • What we in Sheffield can do to develop resilient communities and work in solidarity with people from the Global South, for example, learning from the leadership shown by Bolivia.

8.15pm: Way forward - smaller group discussion until 9.15pm

On Tuesday 15th December 2009 between 5 - 6pm there was a special radio show on Sheffield Live! 93.2 FM to link up with the Copenhagen UN summit. It was presented by Gareth Roberts. The show covered:

  1. Overview of the summit.
  2. Alternative activities going on alongside the conference.
  3. Live link-up with Heather Hunt, a Sheffield activist in Copehagen.
  4. Brief look-back at the environmental initiatives taken up in Sheffield during 2009.
