Climate Action Day — Sat 24th October, 12 noon

South Yorkshire Energy Centre, Heeley City Farm, 25 Alexandra Road

All-age event creating a giant human 10:10 logo on the grass outside the Energy Centre for a media photo. Promoting the 10:10 campaign to cut carbon emissions by 10% in 2010 (www.1010uk.org). Please wear blue if possible!

Plus children’s activities: make your own pedal–powered smoothie, create a bracelet from recycled plastic bags, complete the eco-detective trail and enter the raffle to win some smart energy saving gadgets.

Millenium Park ‘Space Shapers’ Event — Sat 31st October 10am-1pm

Heeley Institute, 147 Gleadless Road

Heeley Millennium Park has been shortlisted for over £500,000 of investment from the National Lottery. Heeley Development Trust want to ensure that local people are involved in planning the improvements and making sure sustainability is at the heart of the new designs.

This event will gather local people’s ideas and plans for the park. Includes site tour and lunch.

Community Supported Agriculture Meeting — Mon 2nd November, 7.30pm

The Grapevine Centre, Northcote Road, Heeley

At this event we will be choosing a name for our new community-owned food project, and forming working groups on publicity, finance, cultivation, socials etc. What can you offer to make our local food co-op a reality?

“Transition Movie” Screening & Open Space workshop — Thur 12th November, 7.30pm

The Grapevine Centre, Northcote Road, Heeley

A Sheffield-premiere for the new Transition movement film “In Transition”, featuring inspiring stories from Transition groups around the world.
Followed by a chance to share your ideas for positive, practical action for a sustainable local community in an ‘open space’ workshop.

Zero Carbon Cabaret — Sat 28th November, 7.30pm

Heeley Institute, 147 Gleadless Road

Acoustic music, local acts, solar & bike-powered lighting and dance-powered heating… A new concept in carbon-free partying – don’t miss it! Please bring local food and drink to share.
Free entry: donations welcome for Transition Heeley/Meersbrook
